Work experience is a crucial factor that determines the employability of a new entrant in a trade. Theoretical knowledge is essential but hands on work experience gives practical training that is going to be used all through the career by the person just starting a career in the particular trade.

Many things in Industry have changed over the years, with old methods and tools being replaced by new methods and tools. Yet the need for work experience is even more pronounced now than ever before. After learning the theory which includes basic mathematics that tradesmen must know, the materials that are used in the trade, the tools and equipment that are used and how to handle them and maintain them, good business practices etc., the student also gets to do projects which will train the student to put into practice all that he or she has learnt. Equipped with this training; theory and work experience, the student is ready to launch his or her career with an apprenticeship.

There is a demand for various apprenticeships and a carpentry apprenticeship is one that is greatly in demand. A Training program in carpentry would include fundamental practices and techniquesstudents must know to become a successful carpenter. The standards for the program are worked out by government agencies and have a combination of theory and on-job training in a professional setting.
